Family Picnic for Family Fun
27 September 2010
To celebrate Children’s Week, Willoughby City Council invites residents young and old for a day of good old fashioned family fun at the Family Picnic, 10:30am to 2:30pm, Sunday 24 October, Willoughby Park, Corner McClelland Street and Warrane Road, Willoughby.
Children will be spoilt with an astounding array of fun activities, including an animal farm, face painting and story telling, and P Jamas the clown will perform magic, slapstick, balloon sculpture and general clowning around to entertain the masses.
There will also be a host of games to participate in. Try your hand at tug-of-war or join in a sack race or three-legged race. Little Giants Sports sessions will be running at 11am, 12:15pm and 1:30pm for 45 minutes each at a cost of $4 per session. Register on the day for a variety of games, sports and activities which will be fun for everyone.
“The family picnic is a fabulous day out for children and families. This year will be filled with fun and active games that children, parents and grandparents are sure to enjoy,” said Willoughby Mayor, Pat Reilly.
“Families are encouraged to bring along a rug and picnic and enjoy the outdoor environment whilst their children play. The local Scouts will be hosting a sausage sizzle, and there will be ice cream, coffee and other refreshments to top up your picnic,” he said.
Children are also welcome to bring along bikes and scooters along with their helmets to use the bike track around Willoughby Park.
Whilst kids enjoy endless activities, parents and carers can check out the ClimateClever display, with helpful staff on hand providing useful tips on how to make your home more sustainable. Natural cleaning demonstrations will also be held throughout the day.
