Spring Festival Events at the Dougherty Centre

03 September 2010

The Dougherty Community Centre (7 Victor Street, Chatswood) will host two exciting Willoughby Spring Festival events on Wednesday 29 September.

Join the Games Around the World event for a fun few hours playing games that have originated from different parts of the world. There will be Backgammon from Armenia and Jacks/Coin tossing from Australia, Yute Nori from Korea and Italian card game Briscola Rules, Otedama from Japan and Thayam from India, just to name a few. Games Around the World is free and will run from 10am to 1.30pm.

That evening the Dougherty Centre will host Being an Elder or Just Getting Older?, presented by the Pathways Foundation. The evening will be an interactive exploration of what is means to be getting older. It will address how people find and use new vitality as Elders and can contribute to the community as mentors, mediators, moderators and mobilisers. It will also look at how Elders can leave a sustainable legacy for future generations.

Being an Elder or Just Getting Older? will run from 7pm to 9.30pm, and is open to all ages. Tickets are Adults: $20 and Concession: $15.
