Chinese New Year activities at Willoughby City Library

As part of Chinese New Year celebrations, Willoughby City Library will facilitate a range of activities for children, from 23 January to 6 February, at Willoughby City Library, Mandarin Shopping Centre, Level 1, 65 Albert Avenue, Chatswood.

The library activities provide a fun and enjoyable recreation and help children learn more about Chinese culture and traditions. Activities include Chinese New Year art and craft workshops, a slideshow presentation decoding Chinese symbols and storytelling for pre-schoolers in celebration of the Year of the Ox.

Chinese New Year art and craft workshop
Children can create their own decorations to celebrate the festival using a range of arts and craft materials, 11am to 12noon, Friday 23 January, Chatswood branch, 3.30 to 4.30pm, Thursday 29 January, Artarmon branch. Ideal for children aged 5 to 12.

Slideshow - Decoding Chinese symbols
Community ambassadors from the Art Gallery of New South Wales will present and explain the meaning behind various Chinese symbols, 11.30am to 12.15pm, Saturday 24 January, Chatswood branch.

Storytelling for pre-schoolers in celebration of the Year of the Ox
Pre-schoolers and parents are invited to join in storytelling sessions accompanied with fascinating live lion dancing, 9.30 to 10.15am and 10.30 to 11.15am, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 January, Chatswood branch, 10.30 to 11.15am, Monday 2 February, Artarmon branch, 10.30 to 11.15am, Friday 6 February, Naremburn branch.
