In celebration of the 2009 Brazilian Carnivale and part of the Willoughby Spring Festival, Chatswood and Artarmon library will display beautiful Brazilian artworks and cultural artefacts as well as run a range of multicultural activities for younger children from Monday 28 September to Friday 16 October.
Chatswood library will host a range of multicultural activities in merriment of Carnivale, with live Latin dance demonstrations, helping children learn about the art of Latin dance movements through traditional song and dance performances as well as a beautiful exhibition of Brazilian artworks.
Younger children can also enjoy a range of entertaining activities including a creative mosaic craft workshop, for 5 to 12 years olds inspired by the South American mosaic tradition of the Aztecs.
Younger children aged three years and over, will be amused by the entertaining Pram Show, an amusing puppeteer show, featuring dancers, jugglers, a tightrope walker and a pram full of monkeys.
The puppeteer show, presented by Murphy’s Puppets, has been seen by children all over the world, from Russia’s Siberia, Lithuania and Italy.
The Brazilian Touch event, at Chatswood and Artarmon library, is sponsored by the Consulate-General of Brazil, Sydney and Brazil Boy, an importer and retailer of Brazilian artefacts.
