Willoughby residents are encouraged to join the fight against graffiti and help rid the City of this visual pollution by having it removed from their property free of charge by Willoughby City Council’s graffiti removal service.
Run by contractors Graffiti Clean, the service enables residents and local businesses to have graffiti that is visible and accessible from a public place removed free of charge within 14 days, with most jobs completed within five days, simply by phoning the graffiti removal hotline on 1300 311 322.
Commencing in 2007 with a complete removal of all graffiti across the Willoughby local government area, the graffiti eradication program has been successful in reducing Willoughby’s visual pollution by 75 per cent.
“Willoughby City Council has been working closely with the local police since the commencement of the graffiti clean program to provide a comprehensive program of graffiti removal and prevention,” said Willoughby Mayor Pat Reilly.
“Residents can assist police with surveillance by reporting any instances of graffiti to police in conjunction with phoning the graffiti removal hotline to enable us to reduce the incidence of graffiti even further,” he said.
Willoughby Council’s graffiti removal program covers the removal of graffiti from residential, commercial and council owned property within three metres of ground level. Graffiti on other third party property is the responsibility of the owner.
