Willoughby City Council will host the spectacular world-class ANZANG Nature and Landscape exhibition, a collection of winning and highly commended photographs from the 2008 ANZANG Photography Competition. The exhibition will be displayed from 8:30am to 5pm, weekdays, Wednesday 11 February to Friday 27 February in the ground floor foyer exhibition space, Willoughby City Council, 31 Victor Street, Chatswood.
The exhibition is produced by ANZANG Nature, an organisation focused on the unique natural heritage of the bio-region of Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea - continents and islands flung from the great southern continent of Gondwana Land more than fifty million years ago.
A diverse range of environmental photographs are grouped into ten categories in the competition. The categories include underwater, black and white, junior photography and threatened animal and plant pictures. The images highlight the remarkable flora and fauna unique to the ANZANG region.
“The exhibition contains spectacular photographs of fauna, flora and wilderness taken in the ANZANG region by both professional and amateur photographers of any age or nationality,” said Willoughby Mayor Pat Reilly.
The images selected for the 2008 exhibition are the winning, second place and highly commended photographs from each category, judged on their aesthetic, artistic and unique qualities. The exhibition travels across Australia and internationally.
Through the exhibition, ANZANG Nature is able to raise awareness of the region’s precious nature and wilderness, raising public awareness and providing support for nature conservation of the region.
