Join in celebrating the good things about Australia and being Australian in the 2009 Australia Day celebrations, 9.30am, Monday 26 January, Flag Court, Chatswood Mall, Victoria Avenue, Chatswood.
The 2009 Australia day celebrations, lead by Australia Day ambassador, Elaine Henry, will coincide with the Willoughby Citizen of the Year Award ceremony, supported by Australia Post.
The awards recognise citizens who either live, work or give voluntary time and effort within the community and will be available in four categories: Citizen of the Year Award, Award for Services to Young People, Young Citizen of the Year Award and Cultural and Community Building Award.
“Australia Day is a day of inspiration, reminding us to join together and celebrate being Australian and care for our beautiful country,” said Willoughby Mayor, Pat Reilly. “It is a wonderful day for citizens to unite and honour individuals that continue to make unremitting efforts to better the Australian community,” he said.
There will be a performance by the Willoughby City Australia Day Children’s Choir and the Willoughby Band and BBQ provided by Chatswood Rotary Club.
