Biography

Cr Lynne Saville sq

Lynne currently works as a sessional academic teaching undergraduate student nurses.  

Her previous employment includes nursing in acute clinical areas (ICU, ED, general med/surg) in major public hospitals in Australia and the UK for over 10 years.  

Since, Lynne has worked in education, occupational health, community health; as health promotion manager, and in food security where she ran the award winning Hawkesbury Food Program, was founding member of both Hawkesbury Harvest and Sydney Food Fairness Alliance (past president). She has written and spoken about many aspects of food security, most recently published journal article in 2018.  

Until recently she worked as a university lecturer in health science teaching nursing and paramedic students. 

Lynne has a proud record of genuine community involvement and advocacy through voluntary work including with local preschools; primary and high schools;  Willoughby Environment Protection Association; Willoughby District Historical Society;  West Ward Progress Association;  the successful Save Chatswood High School committee;  and as convenor of Chatswood High Bushcare group for over 15 years.  

This Lynne's 4th term on the council and she is a member of the Greens.

She is:

  • NSW co-coordinator and Vice President Medical Association Prevention of War (MAPW) over 20 years.  MAPW founded International Campaign Against Nuclear Arms (ICAN) in Melbourne 10  years ago, and continues its support. ICAN was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize 2017.
  • Current Chair Sydney Coastal Councils Group, which represents 10 coastal and estuarine councils.

Lynne and her family have lived in Chatswood for over 30 years.  They enjoy their friendly neighbourhood, the green streetscapes, the visiting wildlife and nearby bushland, and convenient access to public transport, services and Chatswood CBD.  She is married with 2 sons who attended excellent local public schools.

  • Registered Nurse, Masters Applied Science (Env Health)
