Judith was first elected to Willoughby Council in 1995 and is a former Deputy Mayor. She currently chairs the Cultural Events Committee and is co-chair of MOSAIC – Willoughby Council’s Multi Cultural Committee. Judith established the first Neighbourhood Watch Group in Willoughby and re-activated the Castle Cove Progress Association and was Secretary for many years. She then took this one step further and was involved in forming the Federation of Willoughby Progress Associations and was the first President of that group.
In 2000 she received a Community Service Award from the then Premier of NSW for Outstanding Service to the Community. In 2017 she received a Special Achievement Award for her work in Local Government and the wider community. The selection panel saw hers as a stand out nomination from women across Local Government in NSW.
Judith is a Governor of the Foundation of the Art Gallery of NSW and Deputy Chair of The Asian Institute of Asian Culture and Visual Arts. In 2007 the Powerhouse Museum gave her a Distinguished Service Award for her outstanding contribution to the life of the Museum. She is a previous National President of the Asian Arts Society of Australia – a position she held for 10 years. Judith was a Founding Director and former Chair of the Board of Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Australia. She worked tirelessly to further this work and help those in need. In 2006, she was nominee for NSW Woman of the Year.
In 2010 she was awarded an AM in the Australia Day Honours List for Services to Local Government, Clinical Music Therapy and Asian Art and Culture. Judith comes from an administration background of community involvement, problem solving and achieving results.
