The delegate for the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure has issued a Gateway Determination which requires that the planning proposal for the above site be placed on exhibition.
The applicant for the planning proposal is Rennew Constructions Pty Ltd. The planning proposal has been prepared by The Planning Group (TPG) on behalf of Fabcot Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Woolworths Ltd.
The planning proposal is for a full line (3,900sqm) supermarket and liquor store and associated car parking. The concept also includes a “click and collect” on line retail function involving a freight and logistics component as well as traditional face to face retailing.
The site is zoned Light Industrial IN2 under Willoughby Local Environmental Plan 2012 (WLEP 2012) which does not permit a supermarket or liquor store as proposed. The planning proposal requests to amend the WLEP 2012 by adding this land use as a permitted use only for this site, 17-19 Smith St, East Chatswood.
The planning proposal seeks the following amendment to Willoughby Local Environmental Plan 2012:
The planning proposal will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 21 May 2014 until Wednesday 2 July 2014. A public meeting to discuss the proposal will be held between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday 4 June 2014 at the Council Chambers, Level 6, 31 Victor St, Chatswood.
