Brahms - Liebeslieder Waltzes
Orff - Carmina Burana

Join the Willoughby Symphony Choir as they perform the fascinating chamber versions of two masterpieces’ of the choral repertoire.

Brahms Liebeslieder Waltzes celebrate a predominantly Schubertian heritage that occupied the composer during his first decade in Vienna. The texts of the Liebeslieder are based on Eastern European folk poems and incorporate the Hungarian folk tradition. These charming waltzes are quintessential Brahms, and with an accompaniment of four hands at the piano, the Waltzes will be a delightful musical treat for everyone

Carmina Burana, written in 1936, is one of the most exceptional works of the choral repertoire. Heard in Concert Halls, Theatres, on Television and on the Silver screen throughout the world, it endures as one of the most popular works ever written. The text of Carmina Burana is taken from a large collection of secular poems from the twelfth and thirteenth centuries and this chamber version will be accompanied by two pianos and percussion.
