Social Plans provide an overview of the local community at a moment in time, and help Council to make educated plans for the future. The Plans identify community concerns and gaps in services, and propose strategies to address these things.
Talking to residents is essential when developing a Social Plan; Council can’t know what needs to exist without asking the community! More than thirty different community consultations took place to prepare these Plans, including a phone survey, a youth survey, children’s forum and a service provider’s forum.
Councils must complete new Social Plans every four years. The current Social Plans were adopted in November 2004 and will last until 2009. They will also be reviewed annually to keep progress and prioritise up-to-date with the latest community changes.

Action Plans Action Plans have been developed from the Social Plans in order to existing needs to be addressed. These plans should be read with the full Social Plans.
