Motor vehicles are a major cause of air pollution. Vehicles that are poorly maintained often release significant amounts of fuel exhaust over the legal limit.
Compliance Unit Officers detect and report these vehicles to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA). These reports may result in a fine for the vehicle owner.
Members of the public can also make a report to the EPA. To find out how, or to get more information on smoky vehicles, visit the EPA website.
