The Chatswood Skate Park is on the corner of Albert Avenue and Orchard Road, near the between Chatswood Oval and the Mandarin Centre. It’s close to the trains and buses, so it’s pretty easy to get to.
The skate park has just been upgraded (June 2008). To be sure that the facility is up to date, Council recieved advice from a design and construction company that specialises in skate parks. The following changes were made:
- surface repairs and improvements
- replacement of the drainage pit lid
- old concrete rail replaced with 'duragal' rail
- garden bed, 'hubba' ledges and stand alone ledges removed
- new bank, ledge and 400mm high flat rail
- old ledge replaced with 500mm high x 500mm wide ledge with 'duragal' angle
- new 450mm high ledge with 75mm x 75mm 'duragal' angle
The old concrete rails have been replaced with metal rails, and there are new ledges, a bank and additional rails.
The park has a 5ft open bowl at one end and a 5ft flatbank at the other, as well as a central pyramid, a 3ft mini, heaps of ledges of varying heights and lengths, some rails, and a funbox. In other words, heaps of lines!
There’s also shade and water for hot days.
