Project facts
Civic Place offers the community a sustainable, innovative and accessible public place, allowing for educational, cultural, recreational, business and community growth opportunities. The site has a long history of community use, and the Civic Place project will not only allow this to continue, but will expand the available resources in an area that is well serviced by public transport.
By providing exceptional public places and spaces in which to live, learn and celebrate, Civic Place will nurture a greater sense of community and encourage pride in local culture. It will become the focal point for community celebration and expression and will stand as a testament to this community’s aspirations. These high-quality facilities will be subsidised so as to remain available to community groups.
The Civic Place project team are taking a responsible approach to resource use by going beyond international sustainability standards. The development has also been designed to exceed Australian Standards for accessibility, for both audiences and performers. Civic Place will indeed be a place for everyone.
Civic Place is more than just premium public space. It will become a destination in its own right, a drawcard for local residents and the 45,000 daily business visitors to the city, as well as an attraction to local, interstate and international tourists.
