Parks & Playgrounds

Children playing in a Willoughby parkIn the Willoughby area there are scores of parks, with and without playgrounds. Some are big and some are small, but they are all well-utilised by the public and valued by Council. Check out the Transport Access Guides to see how you can get there by walking, cycling, or public transport.

Playgrounds are an important part of a community’s responsibility to helping families and children. Children from 0 – 14 years old need places to play and explore. Other members of the community can also visit playgrounds to relax and appreciate the open space.

Willoughby's great parks come from a commitment made by Council in 1998, called the Playground Development Plan. This Plan has resulted in a program of new playgrounds and the upgrading of older ones.

These innovative parks include Beauchamp Park, Castle Cove Park, Chatswood Park, Hallstrom Park, John Roche Playground and Lowanna Park. These are unique places that are popular with children.

The facilities vary at each park, so to decide which park will suit you best, please look at the list below. You can also download  Playgrounds in Willoughby, a brochure with all the information on it. This brochure is also available from Council’s Help & Service Centre.
