Photographers were invited to submit images taken within the Willoughby Local Government Area in response to the 2007 theme Immersed in Nature, people connecting with their environment.
The winners will be announced at the official exhibition opening Thursday 26 July. This year's judges are Esther Beaton (professional photographer and leader of photographic wildlife walks), Bronwyn Rennex (co-directer of Stills Gallery) and John Appleyard (photographer for the North Shore Times).
There are two award categories. The Open Category winner will receive $1000, and the highly-commended prize winner will receive $500. In the School Student Category the winner will receive $100.
A panel of photography professionals will select works for inclusion in the exhibition and award prizes based on how well the photo responds to the theme, artistic merit, and technical skill. The selected works will be listed online on Thursday 19 July 2007.
A flash gallery of past winners is online.
The competition aims to highlight the unique natural environment of Willoughby and demonstrate the importance of our local bushland.
