The Freedom of Information (F.O.I.) process is a formal application to obtain access to the records of a Government Department of Local Council.
Anyone can submit an F.O.I. application to obtain access to Council’s records. All you need to do is to fill out an application form at the Help & Service Centre and pay a retrieval fee. Other fees may apply based on where the file is stored and the number of files requested.
Please note that some documents are deemed exempt under the F.O.I. Act. These include legal advice, personnel matters and certain commercial information.
For further information see Council’s
Freedom of Information Policy.
Another way of accessing Council’s records is through the
File Access Policy. This Policy allows an informal process which should satisfy most requests to view Council’s files.
To get access, please fill out and hand in the
Request to View Council Files - 74 KB form.
