Tracks The Round Willoughby Walk
The Round Willoughby Walk has been designed by local resident Neil Hardie to incorporate many of Willoughby's beautiful walking tracks. The Round Willoughby Walk has been broken down into smaller sections and loop walks to provide more convenient options. Maps and track notes for each route are available for download. Starting from Artarmon Station, this walk highlights some of Artarmon and Naremburn’s hidden delights. This section of the walk will take you through the remnant Blue Gum High Forest of Artarmon Reserve, past Naremburn’s early 1920’s architecture and past the historic ruins of Fatty Dawson’s Piggery.
Allow 1 ¼ hours for this section plus an extra ½ hr if making a return loop.
This section of the Round Willoughby Walk provides splendid views over Cammeray Bridge, Tunks Park, and Long Bay. Look out for the boats wrecks in Salt Pan Creek and take a cool dip at the beach or pool found below Clive Park.
Allow 1 ½ hrs for the main walk and an additional 20 minutes for the return section.
Enjoy the views over Northbridge and Sailors Bay on this walk as it takes you past a range of impressive houses designed by innovative architects including Walter Burley Griffin. The track starts through a ferny gully with the option of a small detour to visit a waterfall and the cool waters of Sailors Bay.
Allow 50 minutes for the main walk and an additional 20 minutes for the return section.
This section of the Round Willoughby Walk takes in spectacular views over the tranquil waters of Castle and Crag Coves following the Harold Reid Foreshore Track. Enjoy a picnic at the barbeque facilities in Harold Reid Reserve or at any of the pleasant viewpoints along the way.
Allow 50 minutes for the main walk and an additional 40 minutes for the return loop.
Following the North Arm Walking Track, this route takes in views over the valley and the waters of Sugarloaf Bay, Castle Cove and Middle Harbour. You can admire these views from both the track and several lookouts along the way.
Allow 1 hour 50 minutes for the main walk and an additional 30 minutes for the return loop.
This magical walk takes you through tall trees and ferns alongside beautiful Blue Gum Creek. Stop and enjoy a picnic in Lane Cove National Park before returning via the shady groves beside the creek on the Railway to River walk.
Allow 1 hour 50 minutes if completing this loop walk. The main walk takes approximately 40 minutes. The return section takes approximately 1hr 10 minutes. Please note: Dogs are not allowed in any of the bushland areas of this walk.
Take a walk along the Lane Cove River and stunning bushland on this beautiful walk through Mowbray Park and Ferndale Park. The walk will take you along a mangrove boardwalk beside the river and past several middens and indigenous carvings. Look out for wildlife as Mowbray Park is home to a large variety of bird species.
Allow 1 hour 25 minutes for the main walk and an additional 45 minutes for the return section.
Complete this whole loop to take in the tall trees, ferns and rippling creek of Ferndale Park. This loop links local parks and also connects with route 1 of the Round Willoughby Walk.
Allow 40 minutes for the main walk and an additional 40 minutes for the return loop.
