ClimateClever Schools is a new program that encourages energy and resource efficiency and sustainable practices at school. The program includes an assistance scheme and an awards program to recognise achievements by schools.
Willoughby City Council will provide energy and water assessments which will assist schools in the development of their School Environmental Management Plan (SEMP) as required by DET, and their National Solar Schools Program (NSSP) application.
The first step to get involved is to book into the following programs:
Contact the Assistant Sustainability Education Coordinator on 9777 7674.
As part of the program, Willoughby City Council has developed a unit of work which includes a number of cross-curricula lessons for kindergarten to year 6. Download the unit of work, plus other fun teaching resources, below.
*Please note: the ClimateClever School Poster and Folding Game are A3 documents. Please print these documents on A3 sized paper.
Council can also arrange guest speakers to discuss the topic of climate change and can provide access to a library of resources such as videos, books and devices to measure your school’s carbon footprint.
Council has awarded four local schools the ClimateClever Power Tracker to recognise schools that have made exemplary commitments to reducing their carbon emissions.
