Have you ever thought about the story behind the clothes you are wearing and how they end up in our local shops? As part of World Environment Day on 5 June 2008, Willoughby City Council hosted a fashion parade of ethical clothing and accessories including organic and alternative fabrics, fair trade accredited labels, op-shop finds, Australian-made fashion, recycled clothes, pre-loved and reinvented clothes and sustainable items.
The parade showcased clothing, make-up and hair styling from a range of organisations including Sara Victoria, Rachael Cassar, Handcut, The Great Mistake, Eco@Home, Oxfam, East Timor accessories, Fully Stoked, Kathmandu, Paddy Pallin, Etiko, Grok, St Vincent de Paul and Clothes Swap.
The parade, sponsored by Chic Management and Scoop Management, featured models from these agencies as well as this year’s Miss Earth contestants. Miss Jeanne Little, famous for adorning recycled household products in the name of fashion called the show as the celebrity guest MC.
