Affordable Housing

Council is seeking government approval to apply its Willoughby Local Housing provisions for affordable housing to land being rezoned for residential purposes or to a higher residential density by Draft WLEP 2009. This will require 4% of the total floorspace of new dwellings to be provided as affordable housing.

The Draft WLEP 2009 (Clause 6.7 Affordable Housing) and Part G - Controls for Specific Development set out the detail of Council’s policy.  It is proposed that the Draft WLEP 2009 will continue the existing Willoughby Local Housing Provisions from the existing Willoughby Local Environmental Plan 1995.

The Council letter and list of sites available below were sent to the Minister for Planning , Mr Tony Kelly MLC and outline:

  • The Background to Council’s existing affordable housing scheme;
  • The need for affordable housing in Willoughby;
  • The provisions contained in Draft WLEP 2009 and
  • The proposed Affordable Housing Provisions in Draft WLEP 2009.
