All Committee meetings are open to the public. Residents who attend have the opportunity to join in the discussions, before the Councillors who are members of that Committee cast their votes.
Council has given Committees the authority to resolve applicable matters dependent on:
If the Committee cannot resolve an issue, then it is referred to a Council Meeting.
Committee meetings are run informally, which means they are not bound to the rules of debate that apply to normal Council Meetings. This makes them a good opportunity for communication between Councillors, Council Officers and the community as there is space for in-depth discussion.
The following is a list of all Council-appointed committees, as well as some other committees upon which Councillors or council officers serve.
Your presence as a member of the public is welcome at all of these committee meetings (though voting may be restricted to committee members). Phone the Help & Service Centre on 9777 1000 to find out when a committee is next meeting.
