Willoughby Walking Volunteers

Willoughby City Council requires the assistance of volunteers to join the Walking Volunteers Group.

Walking Volunteers are people from the local community with a passion for walking and the promotion of active transport.

As a volunteer your role will involve:

  • walking your local area to identify safety concerns and provide advice on potential improvements
  • attending meetings to provide feedback and advice to Council staff
  • brainstorming ideas that Council may employ to encourage residents to walk more often

The Walking Volunteers group has been formed to assist Council to:

  • increase and improve publicity of walking routes
  • make publications of walking routes easily accessible to the public
  • identify safety concerns on walking routes
  • develop improvements to walking routes
  • prepare walking route/walking time maps
  • develop walking route signage
  • identify possible linkages and integrating walking routes to neighbouring Local Government Areas
  • promote walking for short trips
  • develop a walking route map for the entire Willoughby Local Government Area
  • identify the walking needs for key groups such as school children, shoppers, elderly pedestrians, or walk to work groups

If you are an enthusiastic person with an active lifestyle who can commit to attending monthly meetings, please phone Council’s Transport Planner on 9777 7706. You will need to complete a  Volunteer Application Form - 52 KB. All volunteers will be insured by Willoughby Council while on Walk This Way activities.
