In order to support your independence at home, Willoughby Community Aid provides the following services to eligible frail, aged or disabled residents and their carers:
Information and Referrals
We provide information on HACC services and other organisations available to residents in the local community including transport, home nursing, podiatry, home care, continence advice, dementia services, gardening, home modification, and respite. Also information for carers.
Linen Service
The Linen Service is available to the frail aged, people with disabilities and their carers in the Willoughby Local Government Area. Fresh linen is delivered to the home and the beds are remade. This service costs $7.50.
Shopping Bus
The Shopping Bus operates on the first and third Friday of every month. The bus collects people from home and takes them to Spring Street in Chatswood. Passengers are later collected and helped to take their groceries in to their homes when needed. Conditions apply. This service costs $6 return.
Outing Bus
Outings are organised on the first and third Wednesdays of the month to various venues around the Sydney metropolitan area. This is a great opportunity to meet people and make new friends. This costs $30 and includes morning tea and lunch. Shorter outing are organise for the fourth Wednesday for those with limited mobility.
Home Delivery Groceries
Grocery orders are taken over the phone and processed with the supermarket, which delivers directly to your home. Payment by eftpos or credit card is required at time of delivery.
Companion Shopping
Companion Shopping provides a service for clients who need assistance with shopping and bill paying. Assistance with small tasks in the home is also available. This service costs $15. Limited places available.
Social Circle
Social Circle is a way to relax and make new friends. The group meets every Thursday at the Dougherty community Centre from 1:30pm - 3:30pm. Activities range from games to guest speakers to movies and more. Cost is $2.
Odd Jobs
Assistance is available for minor household odd-jobs like changing light bulbs. This service is provided by Chatswood Rotary Club. There is no charge for this service.
Legal Service
If you cannot access a solicitor due to financial or social situations, our legal service is available by appointment from 6.30pm on Thursdays. Interviews are confidential. Conditions apply. Phone 9777 7800 to book.
Tax Service
Volunteers who are fully trained and accredited by the Australian Tax Office are available by appointment to provide a tax service for people on low incomes who meet the qualifying criteria. There is no fee but an appointment is necessary. Phone 9777 7800 to book.
