Willoughby is home to a large Chinese population who like to party! 2008 is ‘The Year of the Rat’. The Chinese New Year is based on the lunar calendar and this year celebrations took place on Saturday 16 February 2008.

During the celebrations Chatswood CBD is transformed into a ‘Little China Town’ with traditional Chinese music, performance, food and market stalls. Celebrations in Chatswood are the second largest in Sydney after China Town in the city.

Chinese New Year Celebrations are staged by the Chinese Cultural Centre of NSW with support from Willoughby City Council.

Check back in early 2009 for more information about next year's "Year Of The Ox".
