Public entertainment venues provide engagement and culture to a whole community. They are places where people come to be entertained, educated, challenged and inspired. These venues are held fondly in the memories of individuals and the collective community, of both artist and audience. Experiencing forms of art and entertainment that previous generations enjoyed can open our eyes to the past and provide a connection of understanding. In Willoughby, several generations have been entertained by the Wurlitzer Organ, which is still playing in the Civic Centre today.
Cultural instruments and events are also a source of creative expression. The Bicentennial Banners were one such community project where residents used art and craft to retell the story of Willoughby.
