Council’s Aged & Disability Services aims to:

  • provide information, advocacy and referral services
  • develop and promote a comprehensive range of high quality community services/facilities through the development and implementation of relevant Social Plans which meet the needs of older people and people with disabilities. This includes a high level of consultation, co-ordination and a planned approach to community development.
  • involve residents in the development of services and projects to meet their needs.
  • promote equitable access to community services and facilities for disadvantaged groups and communities.
  • inform Council, community groups and government departments of changing needs and policies.

Council provides the following Home and Community Care (HACC) services to help people remain independent and live more comfortably in their home:

  • Meals on Wheels, for nutritious meals delivered to your door - 9777 7830
  • Constant Companion, a 24 hour, 7 days per week emergency response service - 9777 7836
  • Willoughby Community Aid which operates a weekly linen service, an individual and community transport service, a shopping and outing bus, a home delivery shopping service, an odd jobs service and tax help service - 9777 7824

The Aged & Disability Services Coordinator facilitates several committees, which provide advice to Council on aged and access issues. Members of the community and organisations involved in providing services to older people and people with a disability are invited to become members of these committees.

Disability Discrimination Act Action Plan

The Disability Discrimination Act Action Plan has been developed by Willoughby City Council is to assist in supporting anti-discriminatory service delivery. This relates to all areas of activity within Council including community, corporate, infrastructure and environmental divisions.
